Richard Scantlebury

Richard has over 20 years’ experience designing and building bridges, stations and major civil engineering projects across the UK, Middle East, Africa, Australia and Asia. Some of his most notable projects include Crossrail Paddington Station, Dubai Metro and the Subiyah Crossing in Kuwait.  His work covers permanent and temporary works design and erection engineering, including concrete, steel and cable-supported bridges.

Richard is lead author of CBDG Technical Guide 17 "Precast Concrete Substructure for Bridge Construction" and he authored the substructures chapter of the ICE Manual of Bridge Engineering. He chaired the IABSE British Group Henderson Colloquium 2026, Making Bridges Last Longer, and sits on the IABSE British Group Executive Committee.
